Art and Culture make a difference. On the role of arts and cultural education in rural areas.

Zur ausgebuchten internationalen Online-Konferenz „Art and culture make a difference“ kamen rund 250 Fachleute aus Forschung und Praxis aus aller Welt zusammen. In Vorträgen, Workshops, Gesprächsrunden und künstlerischen Impulsen betrachteten sie die Rolle der Kulturellen Bildung in ländlichen Räumen unter dem Einfluss großer gesellschaftlicher Transformationsprozesse wie Globalisierung, Klimakrise und Digitalisierung. Forschungsprojekte aus der BMBF-Förderrichtlinie „Kulturelle Bildung in ländlichen Räumen“ präsentierten ihre Forschungsergebnisse in Arbeitsgruppen und diskutierten sie mit dem internationalen Publikum. Abschließend untersuchten Panelisten in einem Podiumsgespräch zum Thema „Glokalisierung“ die Tragweite Kultureller Bildung. Die Veranstaltung endete mit einem „Poetic Closing“.

About 250 researchers and practitioners from across the world attended the international online conference “Art and culture make a difference”. Through keynotes, workshops, a panel discussion, a poetic performance the conference explored the role that arts and cultural education play in supporting rural areas while they go through challenging transformational processes, such as globalisation, climate crisis and digitisation.
Research projects from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Funding Programme “Arts and Cultural Education in Rural Areas” gave crucial input to the conference by leading workshops with European guests. They explored research processes and findings together with the international audience. A final panel discussion explored “Glocalisation“ and its implications for arts and cultural education – connecting rural areas and regional roots with global processes and dynamics. A poetic closing concluded the conference.
