Lita Cabellut

Lita Cabellut, born in 1961 in Sariñena, Spain, studied painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and lives in The Hague, the Netherlands. She works mainly on large-format canvases. She is regarded as a painter with a unique pictorial language, combining a contemporary variation of the fresco technique with her “Cabellut palette”. The paintings are characterised by a particular drama of light and colour, here she was strongly influenced by the Dutch painters. She prefers to depict people scarred by life. Besides pain, suffering and misery, she tries to show their human greatness, their “grandeur”.

In 2014, ten works by the painter Lita Cabellut were exhibited at Schloss Genshagen as part of the event “Art as a rescue: Roma in Europe – an Academy under Trees”:
