Why the European Climate Policy Won’t Happen Without China
n the seventh contribution of our "Green Deal reloaded" series, Roderick Kefferpütz, Senior Analyst at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), recommends that the EU in general and the Franco-German tandem in particular follow a realistic climate policy towards China, combining cooperation and competition. Climate protection cannot be left out of the systemic competition between the United States and China: indeed, in this major geopolitical conflict, it becomes geopolitical itself.
