Neighbourhood in Europe. Artistic youth project and interdisciplinary European symposium

Throughout this encounter at Genshagen Castle, young Europeans from seven different countries developed a theatre-dance performance that artistically explored the challenges, possibilities and visions of European neighbourhood and social cohesion. This performance was publicly presented as the opening and impulse of the interdisciplinary European symposium on 15th July 2022.

Through this artistic encounter at Genshagen Castle, young adults from France, Poland, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Ukraine and Germany explored the current challenges, possibilities and visions of European neighbourhood and social cohesion. In the workshop with the choreographer Be van Vark and the theatre director Micaela Casalboni, they jointly developed a theatre-dance performance that was presented as a prelude and impulse for the European symposium on 15 July 2022 on the topic of "Neighbourhood in Europe - Shaping Cohesion", and with which the project was concluded. Perspectives from different disciplines were brought into dialogue and addressed both artistically and theoretically: What is good neighbourhood? What can we learn from each other in terms of shaping our neighbourhoods? How do we deal with this question since the war in Ukraine? What has the pandemic changed in terms of proximity and distance? How do we give more attention to the perspective of young people in this debate? What role do art and culture play?

Ce spectacle a été présenté publiquement le 15 juillet 2022 lors de l’ouverture d’une journée de travail européenne et interdisciplinaire sur le sujet. Il en a résulté un riche échange portant sur différents aspect : pratique artistique et théorie, discussion intergénérationnelle, culture et société.
