Focusing on the topics of sustainability, diversity, globalisation, democratisation and digitality, the UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education provides guidance for further development of culture and arts education.

How do European countries deal with the opportunities and challenges identified in the Framework? Are there specific evolutions in different artistic disciplines or educational contexts? And what expectations and demands arise for policy making at national and European level? The event addressed these questions in two round table discussions and a short presentation.

Experts from practice, politics and research, including members of the European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education (ENO), came together to exchange their views. They discussed ideas and strategies for implementing the UNESCO Framework in European countries, aiming to promote up-to-date arts and culture education that contributes to addressing current societal transformation needs in Europe.

Almost 50 people from more than 15 countries followed the online broadcast of the panel discussion and put their questions to the experts.

The video recording of the event is available on the website of the Genshagen Foundation.
